PERSONAL COACHING
WHAT IT IS:
Life Coaching offers people the opportunity to make progress in life by helping them maximize their intrinsic nature. Effective Life Coaches help their clients discover who they truly are, identify issues, habits, and beliefs that have become obstacles to their well-being, productivity, career, income-stream, and overall happiness. Life Coaching is a means by which people may unlearn negative beliefs about themselves, form a firm personal identity, develop a vision for their lives, and bring some or all aspects of that vision to fruition. Coaching also helps those in leadership positions be well-respected and efficient leaders (executives, legislatures, teachers, parents, coaches…).
A skilled Life Coach helps clients solve problems and clarify their objectives in life, set them, map out steps toward them, identify and remove often self-imposed obstacles, and ultimately accomplish that which they set out to do. Experienced Life Coaches are effective communicators, who provide opportunities for Personal Growth via feedback, lessons, exercises, and assignments. They also direct their clients to their own inner resources of wisdom and creativity, and enable them to commit and show accountability to themselves.
Life Coaches add value to the lives of their clients.

Life Coaches are as unique as the pool of clients in need of their skills. It is important to hire a Life Coach in whom you have trust and confidence, and one who specializes in the area of life for which you are seeking coaching—career, finance, college, self-discovery, personal-growth, relationships, parenting, bereavement, chronic illness, health & wellness, spiritual, sports...
*Like Dana, some Life Coaches provide Group Coaching in addition to, or in place of, Personal Coaching sessions.

WHAT IT IS NOT:
Life Coaches are not Advisors. Advising is rarely, if ever, a component of Life Coaching. Experienced Life Coaches will not advise their clients about their lives, but rather provide opportunities for clients to deepen their trust in their own wisdom.
In addition, Life Coaching is not equivalent to psychotherapy. Though, by its nature, it can be "therapeutic." That is, Life Coaching clients gain insight and receive support, as do those who experience psychotherapy. However, Life Coaching is not a means of treatment for Mental Illness and/or Addiction. Nor is it a place to turn in a time of crisis
That being said, many people use Life Coaching as an adjunct to psychotherapy and/or a recovery program. Like Dana, many Life Coaches have experience in the fields of Mental Health and Individual & Family Counseling. Life Coaches with this type of experience and training understand that a person’s past does, indeed, influence their choices and/or inhibit their movement forward in life. Clients with complicated early histories who have recovered a good part of themselves, benefit from working with Life Coaches who have an experienced understanding of that, often lifelong, healing process.

As your Individual Life Coach, Dana will customize a coaching program that is as unique as you are. Her plan will be based on your purpose for hiring her, as well as your personal life experiences, obstacles, and mind-set. She will provide effective exercises, lessons, and assignments specifically designed to help you clarify and meet your personal objectives.
All along the way, Dana will offer support and encouragement while holding you accountable for your own life. At times, this can be challenging and often frustrating. However, Dana is deeply intuitive and empathetic. These attributes, along with her communication skills, provide an excellent opportunity for you to delve deeply into your patterns of resistance while being supported and encouraged to move beyond them.
Dana has a holistic perspective and will draw from various theories and modalities when it comes to helping you learn, grow, and achieve your goals. Your work with Dana will be confidential. Sometimes your sessions might involve revealing and grappling with uncomfortable or hurtful life experiences. Dana likens this to the mud that nourishes the beautiful, blossoming Lotus flower. It is necessary.
Although Life-Coaching is therapeutic, it is not therapy. Yet, Dana's education, training and experience in the fields of Mental Health, Social Services, and Marriage & Family Counseling has given her a deep understanding of the body, brain, mind, and cultures of humanity.
